Phase One of Epic Quest: Make a movie!Posted in Project Blog by Juvie
Yes, you read that correctly—I’m gonna be a star! Or else, with the help of filmmaker extraordinaire Cynthia Lopez, I’m going to create a poignant, transformative, and inspirational documentary about that certain something that makes roller derby so incredible.
Cynthia is the owner of Golden Moon Media and has been making films for 13 years. Aside from her almost palpable creative energy, Cynthia brings a fresh eye to the derby experience and I look forward to collaborating with her—and to many happy hours snoozing on her shoulder in planes, trains and automobiles. Check out Cynthia’s production company, Golden Moon Media, at her website or on Facebook.
Planning for Phase One of Epic Quest is well underway. Of course, filming at all 900-something leagues in the world would result in a ridiculously long documentary, so I’ve narrowed the scope a bit for this first phase of my quest. I have selected 20 countries that seem to provide a representative sampling of the global state of women’s roller derby. I give you the official (yet subject to change)…
Phase One of Epic Quest Itinerary
Some of these countries have dozens of well-established leagues, while other countries have only a single fledgling team. Some of these countries dominate the top of the wealth index charts, while others hang out closer to the bottom. And some of these countries are vegetarian friendly, while others… well, let’s just say it will be an adventure in more ways than one. Wish me luck!
